Interview with FTP

by hex6

FTP is a shadow rap artist coming out of Connecticut. If you like aggressive, hard hitting tunes, then don’t miss out on this one. If you like more chill sounds, or perhaps a bit emotional, he’s got that, too. He’s got it all.

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I’m FTP, raised out of Shelton, Connecticut. I have always felt like an outcast, and never felt comfortable around new people.

How did you get into making music? Who or what inspired you?

I got into making music by listening to beats in my free time, and eventually started to write and work on songs.

XXXTentacion and $uicideboy$ are my main inspiration. I started listening to them during a shit time in my life, but hearing the songs they made got me through it.

I noticed you use the tag “shadow rap” for your genre. Could you tell us a little more about that?

Shadow Rap is the genre $uicideboy$ use, since the type of music they make is not necessarily clarified.

I feel like my songs are more of that style than any others. I have also used “6ICFXCK” as a genre for the same reason the boys put “Shadow Rap”.

What’s one of your favorite songs that you’ve made and why?

My favorite song I’ve made so far is “Itachi”. The fast paced flows I use is the main reason why its one of my favorites.

You said, “Music will always be the best form of therapy for me”. What has creating music done for you?

Growing up, I’ve tried therapy several times, and it has never been successful.

When I create music I’m able to release whatever I’m feeling, and receive joy in doing so. I get a feeling of release when I pour emotions out on to a beat, and get that feeling I never received from therapy.

Tell us about your newest song, “YEAROFTHESICK2K20”.

“YEAROFTHESICK2K20” was released right before the new year. It was me manifesting my group ‘SIXIMPCLIQUE‘ come up.

What do you do when you have a creative block?

When I have a creative block, I stop writing until I feel like I should again. I don’t to push myself to finish a song because I won’t get any enjoyment and the song will be shit.

Any advice for someone who wants to start making music?

If you want to start making music, make sure you’re doing what YOU want to do. Don’t do what is popular just to get views and clout because eventually you’ll get bored, and want to do something else.
